About the Culinary Institute of Virginia
Brand new in 2006 and part of ECPI College of Technology, a 40 year leader in collegiate educational programs, the Culinary Institute of Virginia will open its doors at the former Johnson & Wales facility in Norfolk, VA.
If you are thinking of working in Virginia in the tourism and hospitality industry, especially in the Hampton Roads area, the Culinary Institute of Virginia will be training the "chefs of the future". The school wants to work with area restaurants and hotels by providing trained cooks with a skills based program that focuses on work experience.
The school is being advised by the New England Culinary Institute, one of the top 25 culinary programs in the country. Named Best Cooking School by the International Association of Culinary Professionals in 2004, NECI was founded in Vermont in 1980. The school specializes in a "learn by doing" model.
